Three developments worth knowing
Large-bore closure, FDA-nodded
0%Major complications (VARC-3) in the ELITE arterial study. On October 20, Haemonetics announced FDA approval of PerQseal Elite, a sutureless, fully bioabsorbable patch that seals arteriotomies up to 26 F from inside the vessel after 14–22 F sheath procedures — mean time to hemostasis under a minute, nothing permanent left behind.
Why it matters: large-bore access keeps growing — EVAR, TAVR, mechanical circulatory support.
Watch next: independent clinical data at TCT 2026 (Oct 31–Nov 3).
PE thrombectomy, published
100%Technical success in SPIRARE II. Jupiter Endovascular's Vertex system met all primary and secondary endpoints, published October 20 in EuroIntervention: 39% mean RV/LV reduction (p<0.0001), 50% normalized PA pressure, and dyspnea improvements sustained through 30 days — in a sick cohort, 85% intermediate-high risk.
Watch next: positioning versus existing PE devices in real-world use.
No-option CLTI, one year out
84.1%Limb salvage at one year in PROMISE III, reported at VIVA 2026: LimFlow's transcatheter arterialization of the deep veins (TADV) in 100 no-option CLTI patients, all Rutherford 5/6 — 91.4% survival, 76.3% amputation-free survival, and median pain falling from 6 to 0 at one year.
Caveat: single-arm, no comparator.
